Lesson 1- Who am I?
Introduction:
Being aware of your own physical, mental, emotional and vocal
characteristics is a very important part of acting. In order to
transform themselves on stage, students need to be aware of who
they are as people. This lesson will focus on students knowing
themselves and recording their understandings.
Objectives:
- to acquire increased knowledge of themselves
- to feel secure in class
- to concentrate
during drama experiences
- to follow classroom routines and procedures

the end of the class, convene a talking circle for students
to discuss some of the things they learned about themselves
(15-20 min.). |

Students engage in evaluation of the self. Teacher supervises,
and contributes observations.

Alternatives:
Journal entries are e-mailed to the teacher. A secure on-line
chat room or a streamed discussion could construct the online
version of the talking circle.
